« Every time we play it’s so difficult; every time it seems like déjà vu, the score is the same, everything is the same. Just today I was a little bit more lucky. I lost to her the last four or five times I think, and it was kind of a similar match to previous ones, but this time it worked out for me. Petra’s a really good player. She just won a big tournament in Dubai. That means she’s in good shape right now. The last couple of matches we’ve played have been tough, long matches, so I think this one will be another big one. It will be completely opposite to today’s match. I just need to be there. I need to be thinking fast. It’s not going to be slow, long rallies, you have to be quick against her. Everything’s going to be quick. I just need to concentrate, and that’s it. »
- Quarterfinal : won against Petra Kvitova (CZE), 4-6, 6-4, 6-3
« In the first set I was leading 4-2 and then suddenly she started to play unbelievable, a lot of winners. It seems when she’s losing she’s more relaxed. She can be very dangerous. Finally I reached the semifinals. I’m really happy I won this match. I had some problems with my knee during the first set but was able to keep fighting and win. I just said to myself, ‘Serve as hard as you can because she’s hitting the ball so hard’. I said to myself I have to win this game, and I’m very happy I finished the match when I did. I feel good about beating two Top 10 players in a row, especially since they’re two completely different kinds of player. For example, the rallies with Agnieszka were so long yesterday, and today they were much shorter – so to adapt to each player and to do it two days in a row, I’m so happy I could do that and beat both of them. I feel I can be on this level. Nothing is scary out there now. I can compete with them and win. »
- Semifinal : Maria Sharapova (RUS) won, 6-4, 6-3 (video interview – video of the match)
« I can only say the positive stuff for this tournament – I’m happy the way I’m playing and it means I’m moving in the right direction. There are no players playing badly right now, so you really have to be there every match. »
