Maria won tuesday a impressive match in the first round of Bank of the West Classic tournament in Stanford against the Russian Anna Chakvetadze. In three hours and 25 minutes, Maria won in three sets : 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(5). Next round against an other russian, Elena Dementieva.

After her long match against Anna Chakvetadze, Maria won with the Romanian Sorana Cirstea the first round of the doubles against the American duet Laura Granville and Carly Gullickson. The score : 5-7, 6-3, 10-5.
