Maria and the Romanian Sorana Cirstea won thursday in quarterfinal of the doubles tourmanent of Bank of the West Classic in Stanford against the Canadian Marie-Eve Pelletier and the French Julie Coin. The score : 6-3, 6-3.

The Russian Elena Dementieva defeated Maria wednesday in the round of 16 of the Bank of the West Classic tournament in Stanford. Ine one hour and 18 minutes, Dementieva won 6-1, 6-2.

« I just played her a couple of weeks ago so I knew what to expect from her. I was just trying to focus on my game and go out to the net and take advantage of the short balls and do something at the net. She has a good swing. She likes to mix it up. She has some variety in her game » told Elena Dementieva after the match about Maria.

Maria won tuesday a impressive match in the first round of Bank of the West Classic tournament in Stanford against the Russian Anna Chakvetadze. In three hours and 25 minutes, Maria won in three sets : 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(5). Next round against an other russian, Elena Dementieva.

After her long match against Anna Chakvetadze, Maria won with the Romanian Sorana Cirstea the first round of the doubles against the American duet Laura Granville and Carly Gullickson. The score : 5-7, 6-3, 10-5.
