Maria won wednesday the first match of the Suzuki Warsaw Masters women’s exhibition tournament. In the group A, Maria defeated the American Lindsay Davenport in two sets : 6-3, 7-6 (2). Watch this match in video, click here.

Next match thursday against the Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Suzuki Warsaw Masters is a women’s exhibition tournament. The matches will be played on Warszawianka’s centre court. The tournament will begin April 30th and end on May 4th, 2008.

Six players were invited to take part in the tournament :
Lindsay Davenport (USA)
Jelena Diemientieva (RUS)
Marta Domachowska (POL)
Maria Kirilenko (RUS)
Swietlana Kuznetcova (RUS)
Agnieszka Radwanska (POL)

The players will be divided into two 3 person groups - A and B. The groups will play out their Round Robin matches by Friday. Two players from each group advance to the semifinals where the group winners compete against the runner ups (A1 - B2 and B1 - A2). The final will be played on Sunday at 13:00 and a match for third place will be the tournament’s last sport attraction.
